Sweet potatoes quote: The other day one of my students practically ran to the lunch area where the individually packages entrees and sides are served. "Sweet potatoes! They have sweet    potatoes! I love those! You know, Mrs. Hanson, I never had those 'til I came to this school!!"

On April 23, 2010 working with Jerry Kathan of Kathan's Ridgeview Orchard students in Mr. Robertson's High School Agriculture class planted 15 dwarf apple trees of three varieties hardy to Minnesota; SnowSweet, Honeycrisp and Zestar. The land is in an open courtyard in the center of the High School protected on three sides by the building, the sightline visible to classrooms.

On May 16, 2011 working with Jerry Kathan of Kathan's Ridgeview Orchard students in Mr. Robertson's High School Agriculture class expanded the school orchard by planting 5 pear trees.
