INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAMS

ECFE (Footsteps): Our Footsteps ECFE classes are for children from birth to age five. Parents attend these sessions with their children. There are three (mixed age) class options now for 2017-2018 school year and each meets once per week: Footsteps Monday Evening (5:30-7PM), Thursday Morning (8-9:30AM), and Thursday Morning (9:45-11:15AM) - which are all $38 per session.

The ECFE class consists of a two part structure. The 90 minute options are structured with the first part as parent/child together time. Parents and children participate in organized activities and an educational circle time. The second part is parent/child separation time. Parents meet with a parent educator to discuss parenting topics, while children enjoy a preschool experience with the child educator.

Families can be signed up for any one of the available weekly classes, but - as with our other programs - there is both an enrollment minimum as well as an enrollment cap for each session. Classes are offered throughout the school year, with a payment breakdown of three session "seasons" during the year. Once you have enrollment confirmation, payments will be:
  • ECFE/Footsteps Regular 90 Minute Class per child
    • $38 per trimester - Total of $114 if done as payments each trimester
    • $105 if paid in full ($9 savings) at the start of the school year
  • Footsteps also offers a family cap, meaning that 3rd child is free!
Enrollment limit for Footsteps is 12 children per class. Note that for Footsteps, the Emergency Contact Form is not needed since parents attend at the same time the students do.

LOOK AT ME I'M 3!: Our program for three-year-old children is called "Look At Me I'm 3!" This program is for children who are at least 3 years old by September 1 of the school year they are enrolled, and meets on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:00 until 11:00 AM. There is not transportation to or from this class and parents are responsible for getting their child to class and picking them up. Once you have enrollment confirmation, the registration payment of $97.00 is due June 2, 2017, and then there are 8 additional monthly payments of $97.00 each during the school year. The Payment Schedule for this program will be made available at Open House. Enrollment minimums for Look At Me I'm 3! is 10 children. This means that we have to have at least 10 students to have a Look at Me I'm 3! class to run for the school year. If we have at least 10, but not enough for a second class, we will have to have all students in just one classroom.

LRP: Our class for 4-5 year olds is called LRP. This stands for "Learning Readiness Program". Children should be at least 4 years old by September 1 of the school year they are enrolled to be in LRP. There are two separate classes that are offered. The morning group meets 3 days a week (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday) from 8:00-11:00 AM. and is $190 per month. The afternoon class meets Monday through Friday from 11:45 AM - 2:45 PM and is $253 per month. Please note a clarification on the transportation that is provided for the morning and afternoon classes, as they are a little different: For morning classes, students ride to the Elem on bus routes and then, LRP provides transportation back home or to daycare after class for resident students. For Afternoon Class students, LRP provides a bus to pick up students from home or daycare, and then students can ride their assigned bus home. Once you have enrollment confirmation, the registration payment (either $190 or $253 depending on which option you choose) is due June 2 of this upcoming summer. After that, there are 9 additional monthly payments (again, either $190 or $253 depending on your choice) made throughout the school year. The Payment Schedule for this program will be made available at Open House. Enrollment limit for LRP is 18 children per class.

TRANSITIONS CLASS: We are also offering a Transitions Class for students that are at least 5 years old by November 1 of the upcoming school year. This class is offered as one session that meets three times per week, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for full days from 8:00AM - 2:45PM.. Once you have enrollment confirmation, the registration payment of $285.00 is due June 2 this summer. After that, there are an additional 9 monthly payments of $285.00 made throughout the school year The Payment Schedule for this program will be made available at Open House. Enrollment limit for Transitions is 18 children per class.

MORE INFO!
All of our programs are taught by teachers with 4-year college degrees in education. The preschool teachers have special training in early childhood education and years of experience working with children in this age group.

Childhood experts agree: "Attending a high-quality program prepares kids for kindergarten and beyond. There's increasing evidence that children gain a lot from going to preschool," says Parent Advisor Kathleen McCartney, PhD, Dean of Harvard Graduate School of Education, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. "At preschool, they become exposed to numbers, letters, and shapes and, more important, they learn how to socialize -- get along with other children, share, and contribute to circle time."

Children who attend high-quality preschool enter kindergarten with better pre-reading skills, richer vocabularies, and stronger basic math skills than those who do not.

If you are interested in enrolling your child in one of our high-quality pre-school programs for the upcoming school year, registration will be from April to May.  Application process includes the online application forms and some documents that you will have to download and fill out and return to us at the Elementary Office.  Registration is on a first-come basis, with priority given to in-district families.  Registration does fill very fast, so be sure to get all forms and fees in early to ensure placement.  Once classes are full, you may have to be put on a waiting list or - when applicable - register for your second or third choice of classes.

If you have any questions, please contact the Dover-Eyota Elementary office at 507-545-2632 or 888-273-0189.
