Here at Dover-Eyota Public Schools we have an important responsibility to help students establish lifelong habits of healthy eating patterns and regular physical activity. By creating healthy habits early in life, children can dramatically reduce their health risks and increase their chances for longer, healthier lives.
As we continue to improve the types of food we offer and increase opportunities for physical activity, we have also been working hard preparing Dover-Eyota Elementary for the HealthierUS School Challenge (HUSSC). HUSSC is a voluntary national certification initiative for schools participating in the National School Lunch Program. It supports First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move campaign by recognizing schools that are creating healthier school environments through their promotion of good nutrition and physical activity. We are proud to announce that we have been awarded the Silver Level of award here and will be receiving $1,000 to continue to improve the health of our students.
